The ability to mold composite materials into complex shapes is what makes composite so popular and versatile. LamTex specializes in tooling production that allows a specific composite shape to be reproduced numerous times. Each molded part emerges perfectly shaped every time, saving time and requiring little post-finishing work. Plus, LamTex has the capability to produce tooling from your drawings via traditional or emerging techniques. We’re proficient in 3D printing, plaster molding, composite molds and metal machining.

LamTex takes great pride in the expertise we offer with wet layup. We lay dry fabric layers, or “plies,” by hand onto a tool to form a laminate stack. For wet layup, we coat each ply with resin and then “debulk” or compact it after it’s placed. We repeat this process until the desired level of thickness is achieved.

To help compact a laminate, force out excess epoxy, remove air pockets, and improve the overall composite, LamTex offers Vacuum Bag Composite Fabrication.

This process uses a flexible film to enclose the part and seal it from outside air. A vacuum is then drawn on the bag via a pump and atmospheric pressure compresses the part while curing. This uniform pressure approaching one atmosphere is applied to the surfaces on the object, holding parts together while the adhesive cures. In addition, the entire bag may be placed in an oven and gently heated to accelerate the curing.

We offer a variety of curing processes for composite parts. The most basic approach is allowing the cure to proceed at room temperature. However, we can accelerate the process two ways: by applying heat with an oven; or with pressure via a vacuum.

Thermal Press Cure is an alternative process to autoclaving for consolidating and curing composite parts. This method presses them between a heated curing mold that’s engineered to provide both uniform temperature and pressure conditions.

Autoclave Curing is used for high-performance parts that require heat and high consolidation pressure to cure. An autoclave, or pressurized oven, provides the solution.

LamTex Composites primarily creates finished parts for our customers. But we are also happy to provide assembly services. Count on us for creating vacuum-formed plastic panels, attaching hardware and markings, and packaging according to your exact specifications.
